Win a Free 2 Week Trip to Costa Rica – Nomadic Matt's Travel Site:
My solo first trip was to Costa Rica in 2003. I had never been out of the country before, and I went with a company called Gap Adventures. I don’t even remember how I found them, but I liked what they stood for. They are an eco-friendly, sustainable tourism company. (Check out my recent interview with their founder Bruce Poon Tip). That trip put me on the path that brought me here. I left Costa Rica with an insatiable appetite for travel. This year, I want to start someone else on the path towards becoming a travel junkie. With that said, I’m happy to announce that, in conjunction with Gap Adventures, I am giving away a FREE TWO WEEK TRIP TO COSTA RICA (WITH AIRFARE)! Pretty amazing, huh? Get funky: Red Hot Chili Peppers to play Costa Rica on Sept. 12
Red Hot Chili Peppers

Famed funk rockers the Red Hot Chili Peppers on Thursday morning announced a new tour of Latin America that includes a stop in Costa Rica. The band, known for hits like “Under the Bridge” and “Californication,” will play the National Stadium in western San José’s La Sabana Park, on Sept. 12.
The concert is listed on the band’s website and Facebook page with the introduction: “We’re coming to South America in September!!” But Costa Rica will have the band’s only tour date in Central America. The Latin America tour begins Sept. 11 in Colombia before it heads to Costa Rica, Chile, Peru, Argentina and Brazil. Costa Rica concert organizers Evenpro sent out a press release confirming the event. British alt-rock group Foals will open the concert.
The show will be the Chili Peppers’ first in Costa Rica since 2002. The band will release its 10th album, “I’m With You,” on Aug. 30.
It had been suspected since mid-April that the Red Hot Chili Peppers would be coming to Costa Rica after the group’s bassist, Flea, posted a message on the social network Twitter, saying: “We will be in costa rica before you know it! for all the ticos and ticas!!!” (TT, April 26).
The cheapest tickets, third level grandstand seats, cost $34. First and second level tickets cost $56. VIP tickets cost $90. Tickets go on sale soon (no date has been announced) at www.specialticket.net or call, 2206-7770.

Costa Rica Travel Guide, Tips & Hotel Reviews: "Costa Rica's Volcanoes & Wildlife Tours

Start your tour of Costa Rica with between 5 to 7 days exploring the mainland. Many tour operators offer an excellent three or four night package from the capital, San Jose, that visit both Arenal volcano and Monteverde cloudforest. Arenal is a constantly erupting volcano a few hours from San Jose - if ever you wanted to witness a volcanic eruption, this is one place where you're almost guaranteed to see one (unless the weather prevents it). Nearby Monteverde Cloudforest provides easy access to rainforest that is excellent for wildlife viewing, nature trails, birdwatching, jungle canopy zip lines and has a range of fine jungle lodges.

Those particularly keen on adventure tours and wildlife might consider also visiting Tortuguero National Park. Tortugero, on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast, combines beaches with wildife viewing perfectly. Tortugera is well known as a turtle nesting site, but there is a host of other wildlife viewing opportunities in addition. Corcovado National Park is an alternative area excellent for wildlife vacations in Costa Rica.
